South signs Jerrad Tyson from Western Sydney Wanderers

South Melbourne FC is pleased to announce the signing of Jerrad Tyson, with the 28-year-old goalkeeper signing from Western Sydney Wanderers in the Hyundai A-League.

Tyson will replace the injured Alastair Bray on the club’s roster, with the latter suffering a season ending knee injury in the Round 1 match against Bulleen Lions.

Tyson joins the club with a decade of national league experience, including spending time with Gold Coast United, North Queensland Fury, Perth Glory and most recently four seasons with the Western Sydney Wanderers in the Hyundai A-League.

An AIS graduate, Tyson also has represented Australia at both Under 23 and Under 20 level, as well as playing abroad for Sun Pegasus in a one year stint in Hong Kong.

He will immediately join the club ahead of our away match this Saturday night against Hume City.

Speaking to smfc.com.au, Senior Coach Sasa Kolman was pleased with the acquisition. “After losing Alastair at such an early stage of the season, it is great to be able to bring in an experienced goalkeeper such as Jerrad. We think he will assist the club not just on the park, but through his professional and hard-working nature off the pitch.”

Also speaking to smfc.com.au, SMFC Football Director’s Nick Maikousis and Andrew Mesourouni were also pleased with the signing. “We’re excited to bring an experienced footballer and leader into our football club. Jerrad’s experience in the A-League and in Asia will be of great value for the remainder of the season as we look to climb up the table”.

We wish Jerrad all the best for his time at Lakeside Stadium.
