Thank
you and congratulations to Boyan and all the boys
for a remarkable year securing
the title a month before the season ended. This
team had 4 Victorian State school
players from it and I reckon they probably could
have included another half a dozen.
This is a very skilful team yet also tenacious and
rarely conceded a goal for the
entire season. The boys also made it to the Semi
Finals at the Kanga Cup and only
lost to the eventual winners in a thriller. This
age group with Boyan have been aiming
for this day, to gain entry to Under 13 Super
League, and it is great to see a plan
executed successfully. A team needs many
contributors to achieve success.
Accordingly
we would like to thank the team manager Guy
(despite his Victory alliance),
Andrew Zinni and John Vafiadis for assisting in
specialist training since under
10’s. This team has been a pleasure to watch
this year but will need to stay focussed
as the U/13 Super League will be a tougher
assignment. The team has also been
highly successful playing in and winning
pre-season tournaments.
Congratulations
to Boyan again on back to back titles and all
involved.
Kanga Cup 2008
Under
12s made the Semi's at the Kanga Cup 2008. Only
beaten by a Korean select team from Singok.
The
Under 12s reached the Semi's and were knocked out by
the Asian/Korean powerhouse at this age group by
Singok Primary School.
Singok
Coach in an interview on the Canberra Times 12/7/08
was quoted as saying "Singok's Coach praised
his final and semi-final opponents after his team's
win last night, but said South Melbourne's under-12s
were particularly good".
South
Melbourne - which had not been beaten in two seasons
before yesterday's game against Singok - wasted a
number of opportunities but still pushed the Korean
side all the way to the final whistle.
"This
year's semi final against South Melbourne was close
to the toughest game we have ever played in
Australia," Kim said through an interpreter
after the match

We want
to acknowledge our sponsors for the generous
contribution to the team in getting them to
