South Melbourne FC is saddened to learn of the passing of Clyde Holding recently.
In the early 1990s, Mr Holding, along with the assistance of Minister Rose (Minister for Sport at the time) provided South Melbourne FC with $250,000 in funding for building the new Pavilion across from the old Pavilion at the Club’s former ground in Middle Park. This was of course prior to the Club moving from Middle Park to Lakeside Stadium in late 1995.
South Melbourne FC President Leo Athanasakis expressed his sympathies, noting that “we are saddened to hear of Mr Holding’s passing. South Melbourne FC is grateful to Clyde Holding for his efforts in providing funding for the Club to secure a new Pavilion at our former ground. We have lost a great leader and above all a good friend of our famous Club.”
The Club sends its condolences to the Holding family at this sad time.
