South Melbourne FC is pleased to announce the signing of Michael Eagar for the 2014 season.Michael Eagar joins South Melbourne FC from Northcote City, where the defender had a solid 2013 season that culminated in his side winning the VPL Championship against the Bentleigh Greens 3-2 on Saturday 19 October. He was one of Northcote’s defensive rocks in the four times that South played Northcote throughout 2013 (three League games including the Preliminary Final as well as the 3-2 victory in the Dockerty Cup) and was also not afraid to venture up forward to provide another aerial presence alongside Milos Lujic. The 24 year old dual New Zealand and Australian citizen has represented New Zealand at both Under 20 and Under 23 levels, as well as also having the opportunity to captain these sides also.Speaking to smfc.com.au, Football Director Nicholas Maikousis said “we are very excited to have Michael join the team this season. He played an integral part in Northcote City’s championship year, and will further bolster our defensive options”.
South Melbourne FC welcomes Michael Eagar to the Club and wishes him the best for the 2014 season.
