South signs Welshman Alun Webb for 2022

South Melbourne FC is thrilled to announce that it has signed Welsh forward Alun Webb for the 2022 NPL Victoria season.

Webb finds himself at Lakeside following a season with fellow NPL club Melbourne Knights, where he found the net on half a dozen occasions and provided numerous assists throughout the first half of the season.

Prior to his time at Somers Street, Webb had a season in Adelaide with the Adelaide Raiders scoring 11 times, as well as numerous successful seasons in the USA and back home in Wales.

The quick Welshman will be looking to emulate the season by fellow countryman Jamie Reed, where he adds significant bite to our front third. This includes being able to play in any position across the front third, including next to Harrison Sawyer or on either wing.

Speaking to smfc.com.au, SMFC Senior Football Director Andrew Mesourouni welcomed Alun to the club. “We are pleased to have someone of Alun’s quality join the club. With experience in numerous different countries, we are looking at him to have an immediate impact once he links up with the senior team in the coming weeks.”

We look forward to seeing Alun in the blue and white for the upcoming season.
