KK departs ahead of 2020 season

South Melbourne FC would like to confirm the departure of central defender and Hall of Fame member Kristian Konstantinidis.

Konstantinidis leaves the club following a successful five-year stint, playing in 80 matches and scoring on 11 occasions. He will be best remembered for playing an integral role in our 2016 NPL Victoria Championship triumph, including a man of the match performance in the Semi Final win over Heidelberg at the Olympic Village.

Speaking to smfc.com.au, Konstantinidis wanted to thank the club for his time. “Thank you to the club, in particular President Nick Maikousis, who stuck by me through thick and thin. I’d like to thank the fans, whose passion drives the club and is certainly felt on the pitch. To my team mates, the heights we reached were amazing and experiencing it at South Melbourne was second to none. This club has taught me a lot about the role football plays in life, but most importantly has helped shaped who I am today. I’m extremely proud to be a championship winner and life member of South Melbourne and that will live with me forever!”

The club would like to wish Kristian all the best for season 2020 and beyond.
