SMWFC notched up its fourth consecutive win as well as extending its unbeaten run to five games, when it defeated the Geelong Region FA side 5-0 at Bob Jane Stadium yesterday.

South were favourites for this contest, but despite spending long periods of the first half camped in the opposition’s half, some disjointed build up play saw South only break the deadlock quite late in the opening period. |

The second half saw an improved performance, with the home side putting the visitors to the sword, with neater passing maneuvers and better shooting, including one long range goal which left the Geelong keeper stranded.

The women’s Reserves side also picked up a win, their second in a row, with an 8-0 demolition of GRFA. Both the Seniors and Reserves are having their best top flight seasons in recent memory, with the Seniors sitting in second spot, and the Reserves in first place.

SMWFC takes on Sandringham this week, with both the Seniors and Reserves looking to consolidate their positions at the halfway point of the season.
