In the last match of 2002, South Melbourne maintained it’s season 2002/2003 undefeated home record, as the Blue and Whites drew to a resilient Newcastle United at Bob Jane Stadium today.

Newcastle struck early in the 6th minute with a goal through Joel Griffiths, but the home side clawed their way back into the match through an own goal. The Albert Park Club could have sealed the match in the dying moments but Vaughan Coveny’s header narrowly missed the target.
