The South Melbourne Football Club will be establishing a community-based development programme from 2020.

Our Community programme is ideal for families looking to be part of South Melbourne FC’s long-standing tradition of a strong football culture who don’t necessarily have the time to commit to a fully fledged academy program. The community programme will consist of one training session per week, designed to be less strenuous but still build on the child’s football skills. Players who register to be part of SMFC Community Football will also be eligible to enter our Skills Development Programs.

Our Community programme will aim to encourage kids and parents to become part of the great game of football in a fun, friendly and safe environment. We are committed to providing all participants with the opportunity to develop athletically and personally in a positive, supportive and safe environment. South Melbourne FC encourages and promotes ethical and moral behaviour, mutual respect, good sportsmanship and community involvement.

Our policy is based on the philosophy of ‘what is best for the children’. We value the development of our players and volunteers as much as we do success on the pitch. South Melbourne FC strives to teach the fundamentals of the game and respect for all participants emphasising: fun, individual and team based skills, sportsmanship, teamwork and leadership.
