SMFC meet Bayside United for the second time this season with South Melbourne looking to continue on their winning ways after their thrilling 2-1 win over Calder United, while Bayside United will be striving to bounce back from their narrow 4-3 defeat to Heidelberg United last weekend.
South Melbourne (WDDWW)
The South girls have had an impressive couple of weeks, capped off with a 2-1 win over reigning NPLW champions Calder United courtesy of a Lisa De Vanna strike inside the area in the 87th minute. Now only two points behind ladder leaders Geelong Galaxy United, the hosts’ will be looking for nothing less than three points against bottom side Bayside United in their seventh consecutive match at Lakeside Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Bayside United (LLLLL)
Bayside United have had a terrible season thus far, losing all of their past five matches including a 4-3 loss to Heidelberg United courtesy of a second half goal to Grace Abbey in the 70th minute. Bottom of the table with only one win for the season, they will be looking to secure maximum points against an in-form South away from home.
Head to Head
The last time these two teams met was in Round 4 this year where the girls secured a narrow 3-2 win over Bayside United at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex.
South urges all fans to come and support the girls ahead of their clash with Bayside United at Lakeside Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
