South set to face Gully test at home

South Melbourne meet Green Gully for the second time this season with the boys looking to continue on their winning ways following their narrow 1-0 victory over the Oakleigh Cannons, while Green Gully will be striving to bounce back from their 2-0 loss to Heidelberg United last weekend.

South Melbourne (WWWWW)

Coming from a disappointing 2-0 loss to the Bentleigh Greens in the Dockerty Cup semi-final on Thursday night, the defending NPL champions were able to bounce back with a 1-0 victory over the Cannons in the NPL competition courtesy of a Milos Lujic penalty in the 81st minute. Sitting three points behind Heidelberg United following the Bergers 4-0 win over North Geelong yesterday, the boys will be striving for maximum points when they meet Green Gully in their third consecutive match at Lakeside Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Green Gully (DDDWL)

Coming from an impressive 3-0 victory over the Avondale, Green Gully were unable to continue on their winning ways after a 2-0 loss to NPL Heavyweights Heidelberg United last weekend. Currently in fifth position and in a tight tussle to remain in the top six, Gully will be looking for nothing less than three points when they meet an in-form South side away from home as we enter the last six rounds of the home and away season.

Head- to-Head

The last time these two teams met was in Round 7 this year where it was a 4-4 draw at Green Gully Reserve.

South urges all fans to come and support the boys in their Round 20 encounter with Green Gully at Lakeside Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
