SMFC Women secure minor premiership after 2-0 win

SMFC secured the minor premiership after a 2-0 victory over Geelong Galaxy United at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The South girls started brightly in the first half with a delightful through ball by Lisa De Vanna to Melina Ayres who banged home the first in the fourth minute.

The legendary Matilda striker doubled the advantage with an outrageous volleyed goal as South went into half-time with a 2-0 lead.

The girls continued to strive in the second half with Melina Ayres smashing yet another shot into the post in the 66th minute as South held onto secure a 2-0 victory over Geelong Galaxy United at Lakeside Stadium.

The girls will now shift their focus to Calder United  in the Qualifying Final when the two teams meet at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
