South Melbourne FC would like to pass on its condolences to our dual championship winning coach Chris Taylor on the passing of his father Graham.
As a loving and supportive father, Graham was one of Chris’ major influences throughout football and life in general, having played for Chelsea, Burton Albion and Tamworth as an accomplished footballer in his own right.
Throughout the latter years, Graham would continue to support his son through all of his football adventures from the UK, including proudly watching the club’s matches through
SMFC TV.
Speaking to smfc.com.au, SMFC President Leo Athanasakis passed on his condolences to the Taylor family and friends. “Chris is a key part of the SMFC Family and the club is here to support him during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with the Taylor family both in Australia and the UK.”
In the latter years Graham suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, a terrible condition currently effecting over 353.000 Australians. With no cure, this equates to the second leading cause of death in Australia.

Rest in Peace Graham.
