South Melbourne FC is disappointed to announce the departure of General Manager David Clarkson, who is relocating permanently overseas with his family for an exciting new opportunity.
David has played a key role over the past 12 months, notably contributing to the club’s progress toward the National Second Tier / Australian Championship & Oceania Professional League whilst strengthening the club off the field.
As a Hall of Famer and life member, David leaves with our full support and gratitude for his impact both on and off the pitch.
We are pleased to confirm Strati Xynas as the club’s Interim General Manager, effective immediately.
Strati brings a wealth of experience across football administration, having held multiple community-driven and football-specific roles, including previous stints as South’s Technical Director and Head of Football. A former player and life member, Strati already shares a strong bond with everyone at the club and understands the business from top to bottom.
He will oversee the day-to-day operations across all business areas, working closely with the Board of Directors to implement key strategic projects. A core focus will be strengthening connections with our members, internal departments, corporate partners, and the broader South Melbourne community.
Strati will be supported by George Kouroumalis, who expands his current role as Head of Brand and Marketing to also take on Operations duties with Louise Scolaro in Administration.
We thank David for his service and wish him and his family the very best, and we now look ahead to the launch of the Australian Championship in October and a strong second half of 2025 both on and off the pitch
