South Melbourne FC would like to confirm that championship winning goalkeeper and fan favourite Nikola Roganovic has re-joined the club for the remainder for the 2018 season.
Roganovic returns to SMFC having already made over 100 competitive appearances for the club, including playing a leading role in the 2015 Dockerty Cup and 2016 NPL Grand Final triumphs. He also had an outstanding 2017 season, playing a huge part in the club reaching the FFA Cup semi final against Sydney FC. Having initially retired at the end of the 2017 season, Roganovic returns after a short stint with Richmond.
Speaking to smfc.com.au, Senior Coach Sasa Kolman welcomed Nikola back to the club. “Nikola is an outstanding individual to bring back to the club. As well as great experience on the park and his ability as one of the best goalkeepers in the country, Nikola brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership qualities to the playing group. We can’t wait to have him back in our colours for the remainder of the season.”
We wish Nikola all the best for his second stint with the club.
South Melbourne FC would like to announce the return of former Matilda Ella Mastrantonio for the remainder of the 2018 NPL Victoria competition.
Mastrantonio returns to the club where she played an integral midfield role in our NPLW championship win in 2017, including an outstanding display in the Grand Final against Geelong Galaxy.
She brings a wealth of experience at the top level, including having previous stints in the Westfield W-League with both Perth Glory and Melbourne Victory.
Speaking to smfc.com.au, Women’s Football Diretor Gabrielle Giuliano was pleased to see Ella return to the club. “Ella is a very talented and experienced midfielder and we are naturally pleased to have her return to the club. Having previous experience also playing as part of this squad last year, we believe she will be able to adjust immediately and look forward to seeing her return on Saturday against Alamein.”
We would once again like to welcome Ella to the club and wish her all the best for her time in blue.
