    01. Wake up at the same time every day.

Naturally, my first impression of these headphones is based off of the look of them. They have a classic over-the-ear style that is highlighted by a blue LED light that indicates the power for the noise canceling. The padding on the ear pieces seems adequate for extended usage periods.

    They are wired headphones, but the 3.5mm stereo mini-plug cable is detachable. Something else I noticed right of the bat was the very nice carrying case that comes with them. It has a hard plastic exterior with a soft cloth interior that helps to protect the surface of the headphones from scratches. I never truly appreciated cases for headphones until I started carrying them from place-to-place. Now I can’t imagine not having a case.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=”50″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”2″ top_padding=”0″ bottom_padding=”0″ back_color=”color-wayh” back_image=”19707″ back_position=”center top” parallax=”yes” overlay_color=”color-wayh” overlay_alpha=”70″ gutter_size=”3″ shift_y=”0″ row_height_use_pixel=””][vc_column column_width_percent=”100″ position_vertical=”middle” align_horizontal=”align_center” override_padding=”yes” column_padding=”2″ style=”dark” overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ zoom_width=”0″ zoom_height=”0″ width=”1/1″][vc_custom_heading heading_semantic=”h6″ text_size=”h1″ text_height=”fontheight-357766″ text_font=”font-134980″ text_weight=”300″ sub_lead=”yes” sub_reduced=”yes” text_uppercase=”” subheading=”Joelle Steiniger”]It’s funny — the thing I feared would take away my “freedom” is the one thing that has allowed me to have it.[/vc_custom_heading][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row unlock_row=”” row_height_percent=”0″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”2″ top_padding=”3″ bottom_padding=”3″ overlay_alpha=”100″ gutter_size=”3″ shift_y=”0″ row_height_use_pixel=””][vc_column column_width_use_pixel=”yes” overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ zoom_width=”0″ zoom_height=”0″ column_width_pixel=”800″][vc_column_text]

    02. Have a routine when you wake up.

Once I gave the headphones a thorough once-over exam, I tried them on. As I mentioned, they have a classic over-the-ear style and just looking at them, the padding on the ear pieces seem adequate and the peak of the headband seemed to be a bit lacking, but you don’t really know comfort unless you try on the product. So, I slipped the headphones on and found them to be exquisitely comfortable. In order to test how voices sounded, and the overall art of sound mixing, I pulled up Netflix on my iPad Air 2 and watched a few minutes of a movie to hear all the nuances of the film. None of them were lost. In fact, I ended up hearing sounds that I hadn’t heard before. Echoes…birds chirping…wind blowing through trees…breathing of the characters…it was very impressive what the headphones ended up bringing out for me.

    03. Plan your workout time — stick to it.

Now that I had the headphones on my head, I was finally ready to plug and play some music. I plugged the provided cable into the jack on the headphones and then the one on my iPhone 6. Then I called up Pandora. I tend to have a very eclectic music purview and have many stations set up for different moods. From John Williams to Fallout Boy, the sound quality of these headphones was remarkable. There is an amazing depth of sound and incredible highs and lows that make listening to music a truly breathtaking experience.

His reputation with his previous club and their fan base speaks volumes of the type of player that he can be, so we are hoping we can see the tough and uncompromising nature of his football also while he wears a South shirt.”

Also speaking to smfc.com.au, Carl Piergianni was happy to settle in Australia. “I moved away from the UK, wanting a new adventure and to live for a little while in Australia. To have an opportunity to play here and to help the club in 2017 is very exciting for me.”

Carl made his SMFC debut in South’s 1-0 friendly win over Hume City on Wednesday night.

It is also a great opportunity for our playing group, coaches and off-field staff to become familiar and bond with one another, which is also a highlight any time you go away as a group ”

We’d love to see as many South fans attend either match, so if possible head to Latrobe University in Wodonga and get a taste of the 2017 squad in action prior to the season starting.

I was recently quoted as saying, I don’t care if Instagram has more users than Twitter. If you read the article you’ll note there’s a big “if” before my not giving of said thing.
Of course, I am trivializing what Instagram is to many people. It’s a beautifully executed app that enables the creation and enjoyment of art, as well as human connection, which is often a good thing. But my rant had very little to do with it (or with Twitter). My rant was the result of increasing frustration with the one-dimensionality that those who report on, invest in, and build consumer Internet services talk about success.

Numbers are important. Number of users is important. So are lots of other things. Different services create value in different ways. Trust your gut as much (or more) than the numbers. Figure out what matters and build something good.

  • Captain Alex Cheal re-signs for 2017 season

Captain Alex Cheal re-signs for 2017 season

South Melbourne FC is pleased to retain the services of three-time championship captain Alex Cheal for the 2017 NPL Victoria Season.

Cheal needs no introduction to South fans, leading the club as captain for the past three seasons and proving to be one of the finest defenders in the state. Her form in 2016 also saw her selected for Melbourne Victory’s W-League squad for the 2016/17 season, where she has already played numerous matches in the heart of defence.

She has also been instrumental in the club finding their way back into the top-flight of Victorian football, with her loyalty and leadership an example for all young girls at our Club to follow. She was also at the forefront of implementing the One Club policy as Captain, working with the Club in reaching its lofty goals throughout the season.

Speaking to smfc.com.au, Cheal was excited to be back for another season. “Last season we sat down and spoke about our objectives for the season ahead and I’d like to think that both from a club and personal perspective we achieved those. I could not be prouder of SMFC for reaching the WNPL in 2017, but the job is not done, we must have another successful season and strive towards our goals both on and off the park. I am so excited to be back and to be able to play a part in growing the club”.

Women’s Football Director Gabrielle Guiliano could not speak any higher about Cheal. “Alex is not just an amazing player, but a wonderful and genuine individual that we are proud to associate with the SMFC brand. She has lead the club with pride and passion throughout the last three seasons and we are grateful for all the work she has put in to set the standard for all the girls playing at our club. We’re thrilled to have her back in our colours for 2017 and with some wonderful new signings and familiar faces back at the club, we hope that she can lead us through another special season.”

We’d like to wish Alex all the best for the 2017 season.

    First impressions.

Many years ago, I worked for my parents who own a video production company. Because it is a family business, you inevitably end up wearing many hats and being the czar of many different jobs. I mainly managed projects and worked as a video editor. On production, there were times that I was called on to work as an audio tech and was made to wear headphones on long production days. In those days, having a really good set of headphones that picked up every nuance of sound was essential to making sure the client got what they needed. Many years ago, I worked for my parents who own a video production company. Now I can’t imagine not having a case.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=”50″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”2″ top_padding=”0″ bottom_padding=”0″ back_color=”color-wayh” back_image=”2286″ back_position=”center top” parallax=”yes” overlay_color=”color-wayh” overlay_alpha=”60″ gutter_size=”3″ shift_y=”0″ row_height_use_pixel=””][vc_column column_width_percent=”100″ position_vertical=”middle” align_horizontal=”align_center” override_padding=”yes” column_padding=”2″ style=”dark” overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ zoom_width=”0″ zoom_height=”0″ width=”1/1″][vc_custom_heading heading_semantic=”h6″ text_size=”h1″ text_height=”fontheight-357766″ text_font=”font-175345″ text_weight=”400″ sub_lead=”yes” sub_reduced=”yes” text_uppercase=”” subheading=”John Williams”]It’s safe to say that because of my unique professional experiences, I’ve tested out a lot of headphones.[/vc_custom_heading][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row unlock_row=”” row_height_percent=”0″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”2″ top_padding=”3″ bottom_padding=”2″ overlay_alpha=”100″ gutter_size=”3″ shift_y=”0″ row_height_use_pixel=””][vc_column column_width_use_pixel=”yes” overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ zoom_width=”0″ zoom_height=”0″ column_width_pixel=”800″][vc_column_text]

    A perfect fit.

    Quality.

South Melbourne FC is excited to announce the signing of Jamie Pollock who returns to Lakeside Stadium for the 2017 NPL Victoria Season.

Pollock grew up in Georgia, USA first experienced football at Harrison High School also playing youth football at Tophat 08 Gold and as part of the Georgia State Olympic Development Program. Accolades followed the midfielder through her youth football being a part of and Captaining teams to the Georgia State Championship and the Olympic Development Program National Championship.

Her success continued at the University of Georgia where she started every game she played over the course of three years, scoring 8 goals and 12 assists. As her time with the Georgia Bulldogs came to a close, she was offered a contract with Atlanta Beat in the Women’s Professional Soccer League, however the league would fold before she graced the pitch. In 2013, Pollock joined the Florida Atlantic Owls as a coach, before moving north to join the Boston Breakers setup in the National Women’s Soccer League

A year later and Pollock was back in her native Georgia, this time playing for the Atlanta Silverbacks. The Silverbacks would be her last US-based team as she made the long journey down under to play in Victoria. South Melbourne Senior Coach Socrates Nicolaidis has extensive experience in the USA having coached at club and college level for some fifteen years. His network enabled him to identify Pollock to join his squad at Lakeside. He was interviewed about the signing by The Corner Flag and said “Jamie played for a friend of mine James Galanis and he selected her for the Atlanta Beat in 2012, giving her a glowing report. She’s a high pedigree player. She raises the standard at training, brought a professionalism to training and she’s like a new zest of life. She’s a special player and she scores special goals”.

Pollock’s debut for South Melbourne was in June 2015 against the Senior NTC, followed by her Lakeside debut a week later against Casey Comets. A successful 2015 campaign for South Melbourne finish fourth and qualify for the finals. Pollock would play a crucial role. In week two of the finals she scored a 90th-minute goal to down Heidelberg in a thrilling match at Lakeside. The following week she would score a brace at Kingston Health to help eliminate Ashburton United and book a place in the Grand Final. Pollock played a critical role throughout the final and was front and centre as South Melbourne Captain Alex Cheal raised the club’s Grand Final trophy.

Dave Edmondson, the coach at Melbourne Victory came knocking and Pollock was soon pulling on a W-League jersey. She would make 10 appears for the club through the summer season before joining FC Bulleen Lions for the inaugural NPLW season. Pollock represented the Lions on 23 occasions scoring four goals.

With South Melbourne joining the NPLW for 2017, the opportunity existed for Pollock to return to the club she first called home when coming to Australia. It will be a friendly return with familiar faces in the dressing room and Socrates Nicolaidis still Senior Coach. Reflecting on a half season in 2015 in which she scored 13 goals, Pollock was side-by-side with the likes of Alex Cheal, Natalie Martineau, Caitlin Grieser and Tiffany Eliadis. Jamie Pollock will once again join these names in the Lakeside Stadium dressing room as South Melbourne prepares for its first foray in the NPLW.

Speaking to smfc.com.au, Pollock is excited to once again pull on the blue and white South jersey saying “it is an amazing feeling to return to South Melbourne, to Lakeside Stadium and to so many familiar faces and friends. The history, culture and atmosphere at our Club is unique and it is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of it once again. It was only a year ago when I last played for South that we raised the Grand Final trophy and I am really looking forward to doing that again in 2017″.

Women’s Football Director Gabrielle Guiliano jumped at the chance to welcome Pollock back to South Melbourne. “Our playing group, as well as the broader club has always been a family environment. It’s always hard to lose players but we encourage our girls to develop and strive to be better. The opportunity for Jamie to play in the W-League on the national stage here in Australia was fantastic for her. Now in 2017 it’s great to have her back at South Melbourne. You only need to read her playing history to recognise the depth of experience she has to offer. As well as being a star in the midfield, her leadership both on and off the pitch plays a critical role at the club, especially as we develop girls through our youth program” she said.

We wish Jamie all the best for the 2017 season.
