South sign Dorron and Becket to the senior squad

South Melbourne FC confirms that Melvin Becket and Joshua Dorron have joined the club until the end of the 2020 NPL Victoria season.

26-year-old Becket joins us from NPL Victoria 2 outfit Geelong SC and previously spent time with the AIS, Melbourne Knights and Altona Magic.

The versatile midfielder is a hard-working and extremely quick option through the middle of the park. With an eye for goal, Melvin will also add a scoring threat from midfield.

Joshua Dorron joins the club from FFA Cup round 5 opponents Doveton, with the big goalkeeper impressing throughout the season and in particular the cup tie between the two clubs earlier this month.

Prior to his time at Doveton, he had spent time with Langwarrin and Ballarat City. Standing at 210cm, he joins Nikola Roganovic and Amir Jashari as the club’s goalkeepers for the second half of the season.

Speaking to smfc.com.au, SMFC Men’s Football Directors Andrew Mesourouni & Peter Kokotis were pleased with the new acquisitions. “We are pleased to welcome two players who we feel will add to our squad throughout the second half of the season. Both players have had experience at NPL level and we are looking forward to seeing them taking their opportunities in the weeks ahead.”

The new signings are a direct replacement for the two roster positions vacated by the departures of George Howard and Alastair Bray.

We welcome Melvin and Joshua and wish both players all the best.
