South Melbourne FC is excited to announce the signing of NPL Victoria Women’s Golden Boot Winner Danielle Wise.

Danielle grew up on the South Coast of New South Wales where she began her football journey in Ulladulla before stepping up to the representative ranks for Southern Branch. She played there for nine years culminating in winning the NPL NSW Women’s 2 Player of the Year at the age of 19.

Wise joined Sutherland Shire and helped the team earn promotion to the top tier of NPL Women’s football in her first year scoring nine goals. In 2019 she moved north joining the academy setup at Central Coast where she scored 29 goals for the Mariner Ladies in 24 appearances.

Wise was on the move again in 2020 heading to Gold Coast United in the NPL Queensland Women’s competition. She scored two goals on debut helping the team finish top of the league securing the Premiership.

Danielle then made the trek south to Victoria joining Heidelberg United. She scored 11 goals in the suspended 2021 season and a further 16 in 2022 picking up the NPL Victoria Women’s Golden Boot.

South Melbourne Women’s Football Director Theo Chronis said “I’m excited to welcome Danielle to South Melbourne. She has a proven track record of scoring goals and experiencing success in NPL Women’s football in three states. I look forward to seeing her continue that success at South in 2023.

Senior Women’s coach George Georgiadis said “We are very excited to add a player with Dani’s qualities to our squad. An outstanding goal scorer complemented with a great work ethic at the elite level. The opportunity to have Dani’s experience at this level and leadership will help shape and develop the group further and I look forward to seeing her succeed at our great club in Season 2023.”

Danielle Wise will join the squad from mid-November as pre-season training commences for the 2023 NPL Women’s campaign.
